Make the Most Out of your Jack O Lanterns!

Pumpkins are full of Vitamins A, C, and Zinc. According to researchers, they contain over 100 ingredients to help make your skin look and feel younger. They also have tons of antioxidants which help fight against free radicals! Tomorrow, instead of throwing away your Jack O Lanterns, get one more use out of that old pumpkin, and make yourself beautiful!

To do so, chop your pumpkin into several blocks, boil the blocks in hot water for up to 10 minutes. Make sure the pumpkin is soft enough to mash up, and then follow these easy steps:

HOMEMADE PUMPKIN BEAUTY TREATMENTS:

Pumpkin Body Scrub:

1/2 Cup- Cooked Pumpkin

1/2 Cup- Brown Sugar

1/2 Teaspoon- Cinnamon

Mix all ingredients in a large bowl and stir. It’s a good idea to lay out some newspapers on your bathroom floor because this could get messy. Take your mixture and massage into your skin for 10 minutes. Rinse off with warm water and your skin will be exfoliated, healthy and glowing!

Pumpkin Face Masque:

3 Tablespoons of cooked or canned Pumpkin

1 Teaspoon of Honey

1/4 Teaspoon of Milk

Mix all ingredients together in a bowl and massage into your face. Let sit for 15 minutes and rinse off with warm water. Wash your face with your normal cleanser, if needed.

5 Awesome Makeup Tutorials for Halloween

Step by Step Makeup Tutorials for the Last Minute Halloween Costumes

This is a great Lady Gaga inspired tutorial. It’s SUPER easy to do and the techniques can be used for all different kinds of costumes. This particular look is inspired by Gaga’s VMA makeup, if you are interested in her PokerFace makeup, check out my tutorial HERE.

I LOVE this masquerade mask tutorial. It’s also pretty simple to achieve and will give you that WOW factor tonight, whether you’re trick or treating or going out to party.

This tutorial is so creative! It’s great for guys who don’t want to dress up, but still can get into the Halloween spirit. It can also work for a lot of scary costumes, as it is not character specific.

I like this tutorial because it’s so unique! It’s proof that makeup really does make the costume!

This makeup can be used for all different kinds of costumes. He says that he used it as Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty, but can also be great for Wicked’s Elfaba.

You Aren’t Alone in Your Fight Against Zits!

Celebrities seems annoyingly perfect all the time. They grace the pages of our favorite magazines with no cellulite, acne or even a stray hair!  Although airbrushing is a widely known tool used to make these stars flawless, sometimes we overlook it’s usage and wind up beating ourselves up for not being as pretty, thin or pimple free.

Take a look at several of today’s biggest stars (without photoshop!) dealing with acne in their everyday lives:

Miley Cyrus is a normal 16 year old girl so of course she is going to suffer from pimples every now and then! While she may have more resources at her disposal in order to limit her breakouts, (ex: dermatologists, facialists etc) she is still a teenager. According to a recent study, over 85% of teenagers suffer from acne!!

Lindsay Lohan is known for her party-girl ways. Living this kind of lifestyle definitely catches up to you physically and mentally. This photo of Lindsay shows an accumulation of pimples on her chin and around her mouth.

Victoria Beckham got a lot of press when this photo was released. If you look at her forehead, there are clusters of pimples and blackheads. Frequent traveling and stress are common causes of acne, and celebrities are not immune to these symptoms.

Common Causes of Acne:

- Hormones

- Stress

- Genetics

-Diet

-Clogged Pores

Just about everyone gets pimples now and then, and even celebrities and models are not exempt. Unfortunately we do not have personal retouchers to make us look flawless 24/7. Next time you get a pimple, don’t beat yourself up! NOBODY is perfect.

Autumn/Winter Trend: Navy Nails!

Navy Blue Nails are IN

I am normally not one to follow, or even care about nail trends. Up until this past month, I did not even wear nail polish! I felt like it chipped easily, and was too difficult to apply. However, lately, I find myself looking more and more at nails.

Navy nail polish has popping on on celebrities and runways, and is already a huge trend for fall/winter.

eva mendes nail polish Autumn/Winter Trend: Navy Nails!

Navy nails are surprisingly chic! They aren’t as dark as black, but still give you that deep color that seems to always be popular for fall. I recently decided to pick up a navy blue polish to try it out and see what the big deal is. I actually really like it! It compliments most skin tones and I have already gotten several compliments!.

Try the ever-so-popular OPI’s Russian Navy, or Chanel’s Satin Blue.

Or, if you are on a budget but still want to try out this trend, do what I did and hit the drugstore. I bought Sally Hansen Salon “Navy Baby.”

COVER WINNER- MAKEUP:

Kristen Stewart for Interview Magazine

When I saw the cover of November 2009′s Interview magazine, I was mesmerized by the flawless execution of makeup on the cover model. The dramatic eyes and lips break the age-old beauty rule “If your lips are bold, keep your eyes clean,” and I love it. Unfortunately, I read a little closer and discovered that the cover model is actually Twilight’s own, Kristen Stewart. I have not seen Twilight therefore I do not understand the  madness over this film or it’s stars, so as of now, I am not Miss Stewart’s biggest fan. However, I will say she looks fabulous on this cover, and I am really feeling the smudgy smoky eye and crimson lips..

AnOther Magazine is my choice for best cover hair. Kate Moss looks amazing in John Galiano, and I LOVE her purple and pink teased updo. I swear, she can pull of any look.

Is Your Makeup Expired?

hourglass Is Your Makeup Expired?

Determining the Shelf Life of Your Makeup

Have you been holding on to your favorite discontinued blush forever?  What about that bright red lipstick you swear you’re going to wear one day, or the liquid liner your keeping for the day you learn how to finally apply it? As unfortunate as it is, makeup does have an expiration date so it may be time to do some (late) spring cleaning through your vanity.

  • Oil-Free Foundation: One Year
  • Cream Foundation: 18 Months
  • Concealer: 12-18 Months
  • Powder: Two Years
  • Blush & Bronzer: 18 Months – 2 Years
  • Cream Blush: 12-18 Months
  • Eye shadow: 2-3 Years.
  • Cream Eyeshadow: 12- 18 Months
  • Eyeliner: 2 years
  • Liquid Eyeliner: Six Months
  • Lipstick/Lip Gloss: 2-3 Years
  • Lipliner: 2 Years
  • Mascara: 3-4 Months!
  • Nail Polish: 1-2 Years
  • Not everyone can remember the exact date they purchased their makeup so here are some simple guidelines to go by:

    - No matter when you bought your makeup, if it smells bad, or weird toss it!!

    - If your foundations or concealers start to separate or get clumpy and thick. It’s probably not something you would want to put on your face.

    - Lipglosses tend to separate when they start to go bad. If you see this happening, it’s a good idea to throw it away. I have also noticed that MAC lipglosses smell really off when they get old so that’s a sign that it needs to be tossed.

    - If you have a cold sore, avoid using lipgloss or lipstick. The virus can reinfect you if you continue to use them.

    - Mascara goes bad the fastest. If your mascara is dry, flaky or clumpy, get a new one.

REMEMBER: WHEN IN DOUBT, TOSS IT OUT! icon smile Is Your Makeup Expired?

**Tip: Write the date you get your makeup on the bottom of your bottles/tubes with a sharpie. It may sound a little OCD but it can help you to keep track of what’s old and what’s new

Review: Jergens All Purpose Face Cream

An Unexpected Yet Effective Eye Makeup Remover!

10206 P Review: Jergens All Purpose Face Cream

I saw this face cream sitting on the shelves at Target and picked it up out of sheer curiosity. I was drawn toward the old-school looking jar (hello 80′s!), the words “all purpose,” and the $3.99 price tag! Not quite sure what I was going to use it for, or what it even did, I ended up buying a jar that day and fatefully, it has turned out to be one of my absolute favorite items in my beauty routine!

    Sooo.. What is It??

The jar says that it “deep cleans to remove makeup and dirt and provides a radiant, dewey base for makeup. Also, softens and moisturizes to help smooth skin and prevent dryness.” I have heard rave reviews about this item being a life saver for ladies with very dry skin. It is very emollient and great for sensitive skin as well. It doesn’t irritate or burn. I don’t think I would use it as a makeup base, as the jar suggests, because it is a little greasy and I can picture makeup sliding off of it quite easily.

    How I Use It.

I use it as an eye makeup remover, and let me tell you,  this cream is fabulous!! It gets off even the toughest mascaras and leaves my eyes completely clean. I wear a lot of eye makeup and tons of mascara, and this is one of the best removers that I have come across. To use, I pick up a little of the cream on a cotton ball and swipe across my lid. It picks up the makeup instantly, and I usually only have to go over it, a maximum, of 2 times! No harsh rubbing that could irritate the soft skin around your eyes. It’s also great because it doubles as a moisturizer so you don’t have to worry about getting all of the remover off your skin. The leftover cream just softens and moisturizes!

I’ve never used it as a full face moisturizer because I have somewhat oily skin, but as an eye makeup remover I give it 5 out of 5 stars! And did I mention its only $3.99 for 15 oz!??!

    Pros:

    - Price!!

    - Size  (I’ve had my jar forever. I should probably get another one just because I’m sure the shelf life is almost up. I use it everyday and it’s only 2/3 gone!)

    - Great Eye Makeup Remover

    - Very Emollient

    - Amazing Moisturizer for Dry Skin.

    - Soft, Clean Scent.

    - Gentle. Non-Irritating or Burning.

    - Absorbs quickly.

    - Leaves Skin Feeling Silky Smooth.

    .

    Cons:

    - A Little Greasy

    - The Jar is Ugly and Outdated (IMO).

    .

    Who Should Use It:

    -Women with Dry Skin.

    -Women with Sensitive Skin.

    - Mature Skin.

-Anybody that Wants a Bomb-ass Makeup Remover for Super Cheap!

    .

    Who Should Avoid It:

-Women with Oily Skin (you can still use it as a makeup remover though!)

    Fashionable Fingertips with Minx Nails

high res quality 3001beyonce ama hair shot 121 1024x616 Celebrity Trend Alert: Minx Nails

Fashion is not just about your clothes anymore! Minx nails are the latest rage in Hollywood, and the trend is quickly picking up everywhere else. Celebrities like Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and Rhianna are big fans, and the manicures were seen on the Paris Fashion Week runways, as well as popular magazines such as Vogue, Allure, Elle and In Style.

    So, What Exactly IS It?

Minx nails are a heated, flexible film that fit on top your nails, like a sticker. Your Minx manicurist will trim them up and seal them onto your nail. They are waterproof, chip-proof and chemical free.

    How Long Do They Last?

They are designed to last about 1-2 weeks. Since they are a flexible polymer, they do not chip. However, I have heard that the tips start to lift after about 5 days.

How Much Do Minx Nails Cost?

The price of Minx nails range from $30-$55, depending on the salon you go to. All of the salons I called (in Los Angeles) said they charge $55.

Where Can I Get Minx Nails?

Check out the Minx Salon Locator on their website to find a salon near you!  Minx Salon Locator

So at $55 a pop, it may not be the most budget friendly manicure you can get, especially if it only lasts under two weeks. However, the designs are so cute and the application process is easy, and chemical free! I love the metallic silver and gold foils!! Definitely a sure fire way to get heads turning.

Check out a few of the cute designs! The lace would be prefect for brides!
